Lore & Background

Rundas is introduced as a member of the quartet of bounty hunters summoned by Fleet Admiral Castor Dane to assist the Galactic Federation. The group receives orders to clear a virus from organic supercomputers known as "Aurora Units." Their mission begins on the planet Norion, where they deploy to suppress a Space Pirate attack concentrated by Ridley. During this engagement, a Phazon meteoroid called a Leviathan Seed threatens to collide with the base. As Samus and her allies attempt to activate defense systems, they are ambushed by Dark Samus, who knocks them unconscious with a Phazon Beam. While the others remain out cold, Samus manages to destroy the seed before falling into a coma herself. A month later, Rundas is revealed to have been corrupted by Dark Samus's attacks. He is among the fellow bounty hunters equipped with Phazon Enhancement Devices (PEDs) who went missing during their missions to investigate planets embedded with Leviathan Seeds. Throughout the game, Samus encounters these former allies, now serving as heavy resistance on planets like Bryyo and Elysia. Rundas represents the tragic toll of the conflict, having been indoctrinated into Dark Samus's forces while Samus struggles against her own corruption.

In Their Own Story

The meeting aboard the GFS Olympus ended abruptly when Space Pirates attacked the fleet, forcing the immediate deployment of Rundas and his allies to Norion. There, amidst the chaos of Ridley's assault, the group faced the arrival of a Leviathan Seed. When Dark Samus appeared and struck them down with a Phazon Beam, Rundas fell unconscious alongside Ghor and Gandrayda. He later resurfaced as an antagonist on Bryyo or Elysia, corrupted by Phazon and serving as one of the heavy resistances Samus had to defeat. His transformation from a trusted ally to a corrupted foe marked a turning point in the war against the Space Pirates, forcing Samus to fight those she once worked with.
